Up n Around is a social app that helps friends share availability, see who is around, float casual plans, and coordinate when there is real interest. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have.
When this Policy says "Up n Around," "we," "us," or "our," it means the operator of the Up n Around website, mobile app, and related services. If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the service.

Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use the service, and information from your device permissions when you choose to enable them.
- Account and profile information: name, phone number, email address if provided, username or display name, profile photo, password hash or authentication credentials, account settings, and verification status.
- Contacts information: contacts you choose to import or allow us to access, such as names, phone numbers, and related contact identifiers, used to help you find friends and invite people you choose to contact.
- Location information: approximate or precise location information if you grant permission, along with availability windows or nearby context you choose to share.
- Content and social activity: availability updates, plan broadcasts, messages, reactions, friend connections, groups, audience selections, reports, blocks, photos or media you upload, and other content you create or send.
- Device, app, and notification information: device type, operating system, app version, push notification tokens, language, settings, IP address, identifiers, and diagnostic data.
- SMS and phone verification information: phone number, verification request metadata, delivery status, carrier-related data, STOP or HELP responses, and fraud-prevention signals.
- Payment and transaction information: if paid features, subscriptions, promotions, or purchases are offered, we may process purchase status, subscription status, transaction identifiers, receipts, refunds, taxes, entitlement data, and related support information. Payment card details are generally handled by app stores or payment processors rather than Up n Around.
- Safety and support information: reports, block actions, moderation decisions, support messages, abuse-prevention data, and technical context needed to investigate issues.
- Website signup information: name and email address submitted through the early access form.
- Usage, cookie, and log information: pages or screens viewed, feature usage, timestamps, crash logs, request metadata, cookie or similar technology data if used, and security logs used to operate and protect the service.
How we use information
- Provide, personalize, maintain, and improve Up n Around.
- Create, authenticate, verify, and secure accounts.
- Send one-time PIN codes and other transactional messages you request.
- Help you find friends, manage contact matches, choose audiences, share availability, post plans, message, and receive notifications.
- Show your availability, location context, plan ideas, content, and profile details to the people or audiences you choose.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to spam, abuse, fraud, security incidents, policy violations, and illegal activity.
- Review reports, enforce our Terms, and protect users and the service.
- Debug, analyze performance, test features, and improve reliability and safety.
- Process purchases, subscriptions, rewards, promotions, referrals, or entitlements if we offer those features.
- Communicate with you about service updates, support, legal notices, and launch updates if you sign up for them.
- Comply with law, legal process, and enforceable government requests.
How sharing works inside the app
Up n Around is built around controlled social sharing. Depending on your settings and choices, your profile, availability, plan broadcasts, location context, messages, reactions, and other content may be visible to friends, selected people, groups, message participants, or other audiences you choose. You are responsible for choosing the right audience before posting or sharing.
Contacts and invitations
If you allow contact access, we use contact information to help identify friends who may already use Up n Around and to help you invite people. Invitations are intended to be user-directed. We do not sell contact information or use SMS opt-in information for third-party marketing.
Location information
Location is optional and controlled through your device and app settings. If you allow location access, we may use it to help show nearby availability, improve relevance, support safety, and make the app work as intended. You can revoke location permission through your device settings, but some features may not work without it.
Text messaging privacy
When you enter your phone number during signup, verification, account recovery, or another security flow, Up n Around may send a transactional one-time PIN code by SMS. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your actions. We do not sell, rent, or share SMS opt-in information or phone numbers with third parties for their marketing purposes.
How we disclose information
We may disclose information in the following ways:
- To other users: when you share content, availability, location context, messages, profile information, or plan activity with them.
- To service providers: vendors that help with hosting, databases, storage, analytics, crash reporting, security, SMS, email, push notifications, app infrastructure, moderation, and support.
- To app stores and payment providers: if purchases are offered, to process payments, subscriptions, refunds, taxes, receipts, fraud prevention, and entitlements.
- To advertising, sponsorship, or analytics partners: only if we introduce those features and provide any required notice, choices, and disclosures.
- For safety and legal reasons: when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, prevent fraud, or respond to valid legal process.
- During business changes: as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, asset sale, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
- With your direction or consent: when you ask us to share information or connect the service with another product or service.
- Aggregated or de-identified information: information that does not reasonably identify you may be used or shared for analytics, research, reporting, and improvement.
No sale of personal information
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly used under California privacy law. If that changes, we will update this Policy and provide any required choices.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website and app may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers, or similar technologies for security, preferences, analytics, performance, fraud prevention, or feature operation. If we introduce advertising or cross-context tracking, we will update our disclosures and provide any legally required choices.
Payments, promotions, and future features
Up n Around may later offer paid features, subscriptions, rewards, referrals, contests, sponsored content, advertisements, integrations, or other optional features. If a feature materially changes what information we collect, how we use it, or how we share it, we will update our disclosures and provide any required consent or choices before or when the feature becomes available.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account, operate safety and security features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain backups. Some content may expire or be deleted sooner based on product design or your actions. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account unless we need to keep it for legitimate safety, security, legal, fraud-prevention, backup, or compliance reasons. Your choices and controls
- Manage device permissions for contacts, location, photos, camera, microphone, and notifications through your device settings.
- Choose who can see your availability, plan broadcasts, and related content before you share.
- Delete your posts, remove contacts, block users, and report profiles or posts in the app.
- Request account deletion from within the app or by contacting support.
- Opt out of SMS verification messages by replying STOP, where supported. Reply HELP for help.
- Unsubscribe from non-transactional email updates using any available unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
State privacy rights
Depending on where you live and whether a particular law applies to us, you may have rights to know or access personal information, correct inaccurate information, delete personal information, receive a portable copy, opt out of sale or targeted advertising, limit the use of sensitive personal information, appeal a privacy decision, or avoid discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, including the rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and non-discrimination. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. International privacy rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another region with similar laws, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, compliance with legal obligations, and protection of users or the service.
Children and teens
Up n Around is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take appropriate steps to delete it. Users under the age of majority in their location should use the service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device, credentials, and account secure.
International transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Law enforcement and emergency requests
We may disclose information when required by valid legal process or when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to prevent imminent harm, child exploitation, fraud, abuse, security incidents, or other safety risks. See our Law Enforcement Guidelines for more information.
Automated decisions
We may use automated systems to help detect spam, abuse, fraud, or security risks. We do not intend to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without appropriate notice or rights where required by law.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating the effective date, posting notice in the app or on the website, or sending a notice where appropriate.
